How Kilasi protects your school's data

Children's records, report cards and fees are some of the most important information a school holds. Here is how we look after them.

Each school kept apart

Every record belongs to one school, and Kilasi checks this on every request. Users of one school can never see another school's learners, marks or fees.

Roles and permissions

Head teacher, DOS, bursar, teacher, secretary and parent each have their own permissions. A teacher sees their classes; a parent sees only their own children.

Audit trail

Important changes, such as payments, marks approvals and promotions, are recorded with who made them and when.

Encrypted connections

Kilasi is served only over https, and browsers are told never to connect without encryption.

Protected sign-in

Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), never as plain text. Repeated wrong attempts are slowed down to stop guessing.

Lost phones

Each phone signed in to the app has its own key. You can see every signed-in phone and sign one out remotely.

Genuine report cards

A QR code on every report card lets a parent or another school confirm it was issued by your school.

Leavers lose access

Deactivate a staff member and their access ends at once, on the web and in the app.

Private by default

The Kilasi system is kept out of search engines. Only your public school website is meant to be found on Google.
